The way we govern our charity is fundamental to realising our vision of building an inclusive, vibrant and resilient community in Coulter. Strong governance enables and supports our compliance with the law and creates a culture in which our volunteers can work together effectively, achieve meaningful results and take pride in their success.
Coulter Community Trust is committed to The Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector — a statement of best practice that sets out the five core principles of good governance for voluntary organisations in Scotland:
As a two-tier Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), our trustees are elected by our members and accountable to them. Our board of trustees manages and supervises the activities and finances of the charity, but our members have ultimate control. This accountability is more democratic and means that decisions made by our board are representative of community interests.
The core policies that guide us and define our culture are set out below.
